Who we are
This privacy policy applies to usedocker.com ("the Site"), an independent informational guide to installing Docker Desktop, operated by the team behind usedocker.com ("we", "us"). Contact: privacy@usedocker.com.
What data we collect
By default, this Site is a static informational page. We collect only what is strictly necessary to operate it. With your explicit consent, we may also collect privacy-friendly traffic analytics.
- Strictly necessary cookies. Your selected theme and your cookie preferences. Stored first-party in your browser. No personal data.
- Server logs. The Site is served from a virtual private server we operate ourselves. The web server keeps short-term access logs that include IP address, user agent, request URL, and timestamp for security and abuse prevention. Logs are rotated and retained for no more than 30 days unless required for an active security investigation.
- Optional analytics (with consent). If you accept the Analytics category in the cookie banner, we load Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookieless tracker hosted in the EU. It collects aggregated, non-identifying metrics like page views, referrer, and broad geography. No personal identifiers are stored, and no data is shared with third parties for advertising.
- No marketing cookies. We don't currently set any. The category exists in the banner so you can opt out preemptively.
Lawful basis (GDPR Art. 6)
- Strictly necessary cookies and basic security logs: legitimate interests in operating a secure website.
- Optional analytics, functional, and marketing cookies: consent, freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous, captured via the cookie banner.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you have the right to access, rectify, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to processing. Email privacy@usedocker.com with the request and reasonable proof of identity. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. EU/UK residents can contact theirs via edpb.europa.eu.
Withdrawing consent
You can change or withdraw your cookie consent at any time via the "Manage cookie preferences" link in the footer. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
We respect Sec-GPC and the legacy DNT header. When either signal is present, we treat all non-essential cookie categories as opt-out by default until you explicitly opt in via the cookie banner.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal data. Limited sub-processors may handle data on our behalf:
- Hosting: a third-party VPS provider operating the server on which this Site runs. The provider has access to network-level telemetry only; we do not share visitor data with them. We will update this section with the specific provider's name and jurisdiction once the production deployment is finalized.
- Analytics (only with consent): Plausible Insights OÜ — see plausible.io/privacy.
International transfers
Server logs and static-asset traffic are handled by our VPS provider, which may operate data centers in jurisdictions outside your own. Plausible processes analytics data exclusively within the European Union. Where personal data leaves your jurisdiction, transfers rely on the relevant Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.
Changes to this policy
We'll bump the "last updated" date at the top of this page when the policy changes materially. Substantial changes will also re-prompt you for cookie consent.
